Paul WrightRenowned for his expertise in psychology, Paul Wright is currently in his 50th year of working in the mental health field and has 28 years as a licensed psychologist. Since 2015, he has practiced as a psychologist out of Novus Vita Counseling in Manchester, New Hampshire, where he specializes in couples counseling, family counseling, addiction problems, depression and anxiety. He also treats young children using a more systemic approach that integrates the whole family into the process. Previously, Mr. Wright also gained experience in founding Derry Counseling Service, as well as working at the New Hampshire State Youth Development Center in Manchester, the New Hampshire State Hospital in Concord and the Regional Special Education Center in Milford. From 1970 until 1975, Mr. Wright worked as a Senior Narcotics Rehabilitation Counselor for the State of New York.

Mr. Wright commenced his career after attaining an undergraduate degree in religion and philosophy from American University in Washington, D.C. Backed by his strong faith, he was headed to the seminary, while also working at a church in Washington, D.C. as the part-time director of education. One day, he witnessed a racially charged incident at the church that was supported by the minister. Mr. Wright immediately resigned his position and changed his focus professionally. Upon taking an aptitude evaluation that directed him to psychology. He later received a Master of Arts from the New School for Social Research in 1970. He also holds a Master of Arts in psychology. 

Finding great success in his career, Mr. Wright was instrumental in changing the law for psychologists in New Hampshire, as he testified in front of the New Hampshire Legislature that there should be a change in New Hampshire Law that allowed experienced people in the field of psychology who had five years of supervised experience could compete on the National Psychology Examination and become Certified Psychologists if they scored at the same standard as the Ph.D. Certified Psychologists.  From his and other’s testimonies, in 1987, people who met these standards did become Certified Psychologists.  Alongside this pivotal contribution to law, Mr. Wright is also proud to have published his book “Nice People Finish First.” This self-help book, based on five ethical principles, emphasizes the importance of healthy relationships, as he believes that if your relationships are healthy, you are healthy. To remain abreast of his industry, Mr. Wright maintains membership with the New Hampshire Counseling Association. Notably, he received a plaque recognizing his 50 years of work as a mental health professional work from the New School in 2020, attributing his success in contributing to the mental health of his clients. He thanks his mentors, Dr. Richard McClure and Dr. Leon Sommers for their important influence on his life and career. In the future, Mr. Wright aims to retire as a writer, while also maintaining public speaking ventures on his ideas and written works.
